Square Enix, the game’s developer and publisher, announced that it would hold a livestream on the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), which is a possible day of the announcement.
According to IGN author Jonathan Dornbush, debuting the release date during one of them would allow for a huge audience to learn of the date and see the new trailer at the same time.
Various guesses were made on when the actual release of the game will occur. However, gaming outlets were invited to play the demo version. Articles about the early impressions of the game were published.
According to Aoife Wilson, an author on http://eurogamer.net, the game had two playable sections on offer; one short section in the Olympus Coliseum world battling a huge Titan boss, and a much longer, expanded section in Toy Box, the Toy Story themed world.
“The demo in Olympus Coliseum heavily featured the new wall-scaling autorun mechanic, with Sora, Goofy and Donald scaling sheer cliff faces as the Titan pelted rocks at them from above, and culminated in a boss battle with the Titan on the summit, with Sora summoning the Big Magic Mountain attraction to finish it off, which looked pretty incredible,” Wilson wrote.
Wilson continued, saying that there were some camera issues with the framing but the new features in KH3 combat was fun to see.
